Relocating families arrive with pieces they love and a home they do not fit. Selling them for nothing and buying new is the usual answer. Ours is to redesign them: sofas reupholstered, tables refinished or cut down, beds lightened, wardrobes rebuilt as shelving, lamps rewired. The home is then designed around what you own, and it feels like yours from the first night.
